The Boston police raided the Greenway to protect the investment in a public park made by a private firm run by a number of wealthy Boston financiers. Quite fitting.
Over Twitter, a department spokesperson warned activists the police wanted to “curtail additional damage to newly developed green space” because “the Greenway Conservancy recently invested over $150,000 in new plantings for all to enjoy.” The Greenway Conservancy is a private non-profit organization that raises funds for the public park. Its board is comprised of several of Boston’s wealthiest financiers.

So, it seems that the conservatives are using the 1968 playbook on the #OccupyWallStreet movement now. Protesters, read up on how the student movement was undermined by people posing as protesters in order to incite violence but have it attributed to the youth movement.

Maybe the crystallizing moment came when some doofus yelled “get a job” at us, and the crowd yelled back—not “fuck the system,” but “we want jobs.”
There was another crystallizing moment, though, of a different sort. We were gathering and preparing to march, and one woman asked timidly, “are we allowed to march here?” The answer: “we’re always allowed to march.”
Maybe all that we’re proving is that protest still exists in this country—that a person with no “power” except the ability to stand in the street and hold up a sign is still a person with a voice. That’s pretty fucking important right there.

We need 20k votes and EpicStep will purchase billboard advertising for the Occupy movement for 30 days. I was the twelve person to vote yesterday, and it is now up to 559 votes. Can we reach 20k?! Put it in perspective: the Occupy Wall St facebook page went from 12k to 140k followers in less than a month. Yes, it’s possible!
